Amid the growing challenges of deforestation, global warming, and climate change, local nature-based solutions have become essential in shaping a sustainable future. These efforts highlight the powerful role of grassroots individuals and organizations in protecting ecosystems while strengthening community resilience. The Eastern Himalayas, known for their rich and unique biodiversity, are home to many endangered species and fragile habitats that urgently require conservation.
Since 2013, Balipara Foundation has recognized and celebrated over 187 Earth Heroes - grassroots conservationists who have created meaningful impact through local action with global relevance. Through these awards, we aim to support and amplify their work across Bangladesh, Nepal, India, and Bhutan. We invite applications from individuals dedicated to protecting wildlife, conserving threatened habitats, promoting environmental education, sustainable livelihoods, and community-driven initiatives that emphasize the deep interdependence between ecology and society.
