Ravneet Pawha, Deakin University, India
Since its inception, in 1994, Ravneet Pawha has been leading the office of Deakin University, the first Australian university to setup an office here in India. She has been instrumental in implementing strategic partnerships with other institutions to successfully integrate Australian higher education in Indian popular culture. She has facilitated many unique scholarship programs in media houses and multifaceted partnerships with Indian premier league teams. Due to her constant efforts, Deakin has emerged as a market leader and students from India form the largest international cohort at this Australian university. One of the key strategic project spearheaded by Pawha is the Deakin India Research Initiative (DIRI), which was established to strengthen research activities and partnerships in India with a view to bridging the gap between academia and industry. Through DIRI, Pawha has established over a hundred projects including the TERI-Deakin Nano-Biotechnology research facility, a brilliant example of India-Australia collaboration. In 2018, she received IABCA’s prestigious ‘Business Leader Professional of the Year’ award.
