In 2017, Indian Forest Service Officer, Jatindra Sarma, discovered two new plant species in the state of Assam. His work has by and large been in Assam and the north-east of India, where he has discovered over 1,336 kinds of plants with medicinal properties as well as 60 different species of wild mushroom. He has documented these in a two volume academic publication, titled Medicinal Plants an Mushrooms of India. Jatindra Sarma continues to explore the wild in search for more plants and mushroom variety that can contribute to the field of science and pharmacology.
