Dr. K K Sarma is a pioneer in the field of research on elephant anaesthetics. He has standardised xylazine-ketamine and medetomidine doses on elephants which is has been newly introduced to animal science. Being a veterinarian, his role towards ecology pertains to handling stray wild animals, disease prevention and treatment of diseased wild animals. He has rescued and treated countless wild animals so far. Dr. Sarma is also a decorated academician and scholar on elephant health care and conservation and his contributions have been recognised by various national and international organisations. Like a true leader, he has motivated generations of student to become wildlife veterinarian. His tireless service for elephant and other wildlife in the last 32 years shows his perseverance for the cause.
