A joint Badminton Partnership to unearth grassroots talent

October 08, Aizwal - Tata Trusts through NEIDA, along with Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation (PGBF), Mizoram Badminton Association (MBA) and Mizoram State Sports Council (MSSC) have launched a multi-level Badminton training initiative in Mizoram.

This was inaugurated by Mr Ranjit Barthakur, President and co-founder of Balipara Foundation and board member of North-East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA), along with the sports minister of Mizoram, Mr Zodintluanga and ace badminton player, Pullela Gopichand. “The partnership will focus on grassroots development of talent, unleash their true potential and inspire the next generation of badminton players, putting the sports squarely at the heart of rising India as a badminton nation”- says Ranjit Barthakur, Co-Founder, Balipara Foundation.

The project implementation partners will leverage the existing sporting culture and facilities in Mizoram to introduce a three-tier pyramid system consisting of Grassroots Centers, Regional Development Centres (RDCs) and a state-of- the art High Altitude Training Centre (HATC) across the state to nurture talent at all levels.
