Title: NaturenomicsTM Botanist

Report to: Operations Head, Eastern Himalayan Botanic Ark

 

Position Summary: Provide support to the Management personnel by effectively managing his schedule and performing a wide variety of responsible, complex and confidential administrative and analytical and research duties. Research verticals are primarily assessment of biodiversity, analysis and creating ecological models for Balipara Foundation’s habitat restoration projects. Apart from the research verticals the consultant will be entitled to different botanical aspects of the projects the Foundation executes. This also requires leadership qualities such as adaptability, flexibility, dependability and accountability. This requires a high degree of professional independence, initiative and self-discipline. 

 

Proficiency desired

  • Post graduate degree in Botany, preferable with specialization in Plant Taxonomy

  • Extensive travel in different parts of Assam/protected area

  • Preference will be given to those candidates having personal laptop/camera/2 wheeler/4 wheeler driving skill with valid driving license

  • Strong writing and communication skills

  • Data Processing & Interpretation skills

  • Languages: English, Hindi & Assamese

 

Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Project Development Deliverables, 

  • Data Analysis and Ecological evaluation of habitat restoration projects

  • Creating sustainable models for eco restoration

  • Ethnobotany and Phenology

  • Expansion of Eastern Himalayan Botanic Ark Seed bank and Herbarium centre

  • Identification, tagging and conservation of endemic species diversity at Eastern Himalayan Botanic Ark

  • Workshops and awareness campaigns on endemic plant conservation, seed conservation and herbarium through NaturenomicsTM School

 

Communications
 

  • Managing day-to-day correspondences.

  • Checking & replying to mail correspondence.

  • Prepare, edit and distribute letters, matrix , schedules pertaining to events

  • Prepare and archive Power point presentations.

 

Data Analysis
 

  • Ecological data analysis and developing most relevant models for habitat projects.

  • Analyzing data and solutions for sustainability

  • Manage plan and organize daily, weekly work calendar.

 

Schedule Management.

  • Responsible for Schedule & Calendar Management.

  • Setting up speaking engagements and other appointments assigned to work 

 

Operation Management.

  • Ensure self-operational Plans & deliverables 

  • Systematically planning & monitoring the completion of deliverable job assigned & keep follow ups

  • Arrange for meetings and conferences, including preparing agendas and minutes for same and making the necessary business travel arrangements

  • Serve as liaison with department managers to help ensure a manageable flow of work and communications.

 

Report, Analysis & Meetings.

  • Prepare & submit weekly, monthly & project report to the project heads.

 

Special Projects & management.

Coordinate for the ongoing & upcoming projects planned as per plans
