Balipara Foundation participates in the annual Green Hub festival

Aimed at raising awareness, examining and celebrating the Environment and Wildlife of North East of India, Balipara Foundation participated in the annual Green Hub festival on 13th May ’18 hosted at Tezpur University. Organized over 3 days, the event has film screenings, music, panel discussions on environment conservation and social development and provides a vibrant space for networking.

The festival was a platform to discuss various crucial subjects such as human-elephant conflict, wildlife rescue and the role of women in biodiversity conservation and encourage a debate in a bid to create an opinion. It also aims to strengthen youth engagement with conservation of natural resources, enabling young Green Hub fellows to not only become more sensitized keepers of traditional knowledge systems, but also become future green crusaders.

The overall vision of the festival is to reach out to the community and connect young individuals with other individual’s organizations and groups working with conservation to form an interdependent web of learning, sharing action and opportunity. This also enables empowering grassroots leaders and enhance their foothold in the overall socio-economic and environment development in the region.

The Green hub festival is an integral part of the larger Green hub program, which engages youth and the community conservation action through the digital medium. Knowledge sharing and interactions with peers helps in hands on learning and exposure to alternate solutions for project development. Participation at the festival helped us create a value chain of new partnerships, learnings, innovations and enhance developmental plans for Rural Futures.
