Advertisement for the Post of Research Associate, Junior Research Fellow and Field Assistant

Applications are invited for one (01) temporary position of Research Associate, two (02) temporary positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and two (02) temporary positions of Field Assistant in a research project funded by Ministry of Science & Technology, Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India entitled “Quantitative assessment and mapping of plant diversity and biological resources in Upper and Lower Assam” under the project sub- component 1 entitled “Inventories and mapping of bioresources in North East India” of major project “Bioresources and sustainable livelihoods in North East India” under the Principal Investigator Dr. Gitamani Dutta, Balipara Foundation and Co-Principal Investigator Dr. Ashalata Devi, Department of Environmental Science, Tezpur University.

 

Position: 01 (One) Research Associate (RA)

Qualifications: The applicant should have Ph.D. in Botany/Ecology/Forestry/Environmental Science.

Desirable: Candidate with working experience/specialization in plant taxonomy, biosystematics, plant ecology, and data acquisition and analysis will be given additional preference.

Fellowship: Rs.38,000/- (Rupees Thirty eight Thousand) per month for three years. HRA per month will be admissible as per rules, if no accommodation is provided by the institute.

 

Position: 02 (Two) Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Qualifications: The applicant should have M.Sc. with a minimum of 55 % marks or equivalent CGPA in Botany/Ecology/Forestry/Environmental Science with specialization or experience in plant taxonomy. Candidates having NET/GATE qualification will be preferred.

Desirable: Candidate with working experience/specialization in plant taxonomy, biosystematics, plant ecology and willing to undertake extensive fieldwork in different forest types of Assam will be given additional preference. Good analytical skills and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Fellowship: Rs.25,000/- (Rupees Twenty Five Thousand) only per month for the first and second year, and Rs.28,000/- (Rupees Twenty Eight Thousand) only per month for the third year for NET/GATE qualified candidates. HRA as per rules will be admissible if no accommodation is provided by the institute.

 

Position: 02 (Two) Field Assistant

Qualifications: The applicant should have minimum qualification of 8 passed.

Desirable: Experience in field, herbarium collection, processing and preservation will be given additional preference.

Fellowship: Rs. 10000/- (Rupees Ten thousand) fixed only per month.

Age: The candidate shall not be more than 30 years of age as on date of interview. The upper age limit may be relaxed up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women.

Duration: Appointment of RA, JRFs and Field Assistants will be initially for a period of one (01) year, which may be extended further upon satisfactory performance of the incumbent and co-terminus with the project. Maximum duration is three (03) years.

Note: If no NET/GATE qualified candidates are available, fellowship and post designation for JRF will be as per DST guidelines.
