Balipara Foundation Awards Season 4, 2016The Eastern Himalayas is the bio-geographical gateway to India's richest biodiversity zone and is unique for its genetic resources. However, the rapid growth in population is creating a number of environmental problems because of uncontrolled urbanization, industrialization and massive intensification of agriculture and destruction of forests.

The Balipara Foundation has been a leading advocate of Biodiversity Conservation of the Eastern Himalayan Region. The Foundation, has been documenting, analyzing and promoting the concept of NaturenomicsTM for over a decade now. It seeks to bring the objective of economics in line with the imperatives of nature.

To carry forward the legacy of conservation, Balipara Foundation is pleased to announce the 4th Balipara Foundation Awards & Rabindranath Barthakur Memorial lecture in association with Sanctuary Asia on 9th November 2016 in Guwahati, Assam, India.

The Balipara Foundation Awards was instituted to bring into focus grassroot conservation case studies and real life crusaders of the Eastern Himalayan Region. Since the inaugural Awards in 2013, Balipara Foundation Awards has been saluting and recognizing outstanding efforts towards biodiversity conservation and restoration in the Eastern Himalayan Region.

We believe strongly that people who have devoted their lives to the defence or custodianship of our natural treasures should be honoured.

The 4th Balipara Foundation Awards will once again highlight inspirational conservation work in the region of the Eastern Himalayas and North Eastern India, ranging from protection of endangered species and threatened habitat to the promotion of environmental education, interdependence between nature & economy and the development of community driven conservation.

These Awards were conceived by Balipara Foundation in association with Sanctuary Asia, one of India’s leading environmental publishers. The Awards aim to highlight the outstanding achievements of individuals, communities and organizations working within the field of conservation. From practical filed conservation to successful environmental education, theses awards aim to recognize the achievements, who are ensuring the future of Eastern Himalayas and bringing the challenges faced by the region to the global audience.
